Clan : The Working Men's Association
Description:
“A favour for a favourâ€
The Working Men’s Association are not mercenaries. They are not assassins or strongarms. Neither are they law enforcers, vigilantes or professional soldiers. Our members, of course, may be one or all of these things, but the Association is just that – a loose association of men and women who are used to having to handle their own business when the situation demands it.
The Association is founded on the simple principle of professional respect. Our members don’t have to like each other, and may disagree – violently, sometimes - with each other’s actions; but always there is the recognition that sometimes a man has to do what he thinks is right, regardless of the consequences or the law.
As such, the Association has been formed to provide a network for these individuals to share information, resources and services, and to provide support and backup when carrying out the various dirty jobs that are often necessary in our line of business. Do you need a message passing on to someone on the other side of the island, verbal or ‘pointed’? Are you an enterprising trader whose business is being disrupted by some punk PKer, and need him setting straight? Or perhaps you’re looking to have a little word with someone yourself, and need a clue as to where to start? Put the word out through the Association, and we’ll see what turns up.
Of course, there are no guarantees. The Association itself has no direct control over its members’ activities, and certainly places no obligations upon any of them. However, it is expected that members will provide assistance wherever possible, to whatever extent they feel appropriate or able. This is especially true where your own requests for help have been accommodated. A favour for a favour, that’s how we do business. It is accepted that members of the Association may at times be required to kill one another in the line of their work, but these exchanges should be kept strictly as business transactions. Personal feuds are strongly discouraged.
Although our members’ jobs may require the occasional act that could be considered ‘immoral’ by those outside our specialist community, there is nonetheless an expectation that a loose code of conduct will be followed:
- Unprovoked killing for personal gratification is frowned upon – we’re working men, not criminals, and don’t need that sort of reputation. Of course, this doesn’t mean pleasure can’t be mixed with business, but it should be a secondary consideration.
- Debts must be repaid – the Association is founded on these little give-and-takes, and we expect you to do your fair share.
- Women, children and peaceful types should not become involved in our activities – unless they start it, anyway. Chivalry’s all well and good, but only to a point, obviously.
Our members should contact any of the Association’s founders in-game with requests. Or, in a much easier, if less realistic way, via the forum thread – or by PM, if privacy is required. The request will be sent out as clan news.
